For the past couple years, I have been infatuated with cassette mixtapes. From the learning about the history of cassette tapes to experimenting with homemade tape loops, the medium has brought me a lot of joy and inspiration. Making my own mixes has been a great creative outlet for channeling my love for music and art into pocket sized time capsules for Erin and I to listen to in the living room. Some of the mixtapes are just a curated batch of songs, with or without a theme, that come together relatively quickly, while others are thought out creative projects with spliced in audio and layered transitions. Lately, I have been inspired to use found footage, obsolete books from antique stores, and non-music recordings on old physical media as the framework for mixes.
